Friday Finds 12 copy

1. Jimmy Kimmel asked random people around L.A. if they’re gluten-free and if they know what gluten is. The outcome is pretty hilarious.

2. Eataly in Flatiron is going to have a Nutella Bar come next week. The menu includes Nutella on bread, as well as in tarts, muffins and crepes. Most items will cost under $5. Stop by for the grand opening on Monday from 5pm to 9pm and get some free goods.

3. The annual James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards took place this week and here are the winners. April Bloomfield was named best New York City chef. Yay for women!

4. Certified coffee guru Oliver Strand published this article in the NY Times, stating that New York is becoming a serious coffee town, with not just a few ‘hard-core’ shops, but that the chains are taking their product more seriously too. Fun fact: One new coffee shop opened in New York every three days in the past year. No word yet if we’re finally taking a cue from the French and leisurely drinking coffee and smoking in sidewalk cafes whist reading the paper anytime soon, but I’ll keep hoping.

5. There’s a new restaurant on the Lower East Side that serves this delectable-looking fried chicken Benedict, on a waffle, and also specializes in specialty whiskey. I simply must go and report back.

See you next week!
