Let the drooling begin!
Silky miso ramen at a ramen shop in Midtown East. This may be the only time I’ve ever forgotten the name of a restaurant, but all I know is it was cheap and on par with those big name ramen places.
Dinner at Nom Wah: spring rolls, roast pork bun, dumplings in soup and steamed greens with oyster sauce. I never tire of this place.
A mid-day latte at Qathra Cafe on Cortelyou Road in Brooklyn. If taking pictures of latte art makes be ‘basic’, so be it.
Really creepy Russian candy at Rene’s aunt’s house. Some of my earliest memories involve this chocolate wafer treat and it has always bore this disturbing image. Maybe it’s time to rethink the design, eh?
Breakfast made out of the last items left in the fridge: eggs and red onion. Add a side of whole wheat baguette and it’s a meal.
City Bakery’s famed pretzel croissant. Part flaky, buttery croissant, part salty everything bagel with a crunchy outside. In a word: perfection.
Fancy pan-seared halibut with spring vegetables and paloise sauce at Racines NY. A write-up of this restaurant is actually my first contribution to New York magazine’s Restaurant Listings section. Check it out!
Perfect eggs benedict with heavenly pan-fried potatoes at Chez Moi in Cobble Hill. This place has sort of become mine and Rene’s go-to spot for Sunday morning brunches. The restaurant is comfy yet stylish, the waiters are attentive and their brunch is top-notch, especially considering how generous the prices are.
Tell me about the best meal you had lately.
