I spent the weekend visiting a friend who lives near Morristown in New Jersey, and got the chance to eat some really yummy stuff.
Morristown is an adorable place that’s full of great places to eat and drink. We had dinner at Origin, a Thai/French restaurant. We split the shrimp pad thai, which was perfect. Period.
…And the Peking duck salad. This was a cold salad of cucumbers, mango, pineapple, red onion, carrots and romaine lettuce, tossed with crispy fried pieces of duck in a tangy chili lime dressing. And, it was served out of a delicious crispy shell, which we also made sure to devour. The contrast of the fruits and vegetables with the warm, crispy duck was fabulous. This salad definitely hit the spot.
For dessert, we walked a few doors down to Sweet Lucy’s, a brand new bakery/cafe. There were many beautiful handcrafted items on display, mainly cupcakes and whoopie pies. I was trying to choose a cupcake for about 10 minutes, but once I saw the word ‘Nutella,’ the search was over – I chose the banana and Nutella cupcake with vanilla frosting.
As I peeled back the paper and took my first bite, I was delighted to find that the cake tasted just like homemade banana bread, but I wondered where the chocolatey goodness would come into play. I few bites later I found out…
Tucked in the middle of the cake was the gooey hazelnut chocolate spead…yum.
My friend got the brownie. It was good but nowhere near as good as a Fat Witch…
