Chez (pronounced: sheh) roughly translates from French to “in the home of” and Sasha is my name, which is diminutive for Alexandra. I am Ukranian-born, Brooklyn-raised, and currently in my early 20′s.
Food has been a passion of mine since I was a child. While the other kids watched Spongebob, I watched 30-Minute Meals. In high school, while the other girls read Cosmopolitan and perfected their “5-Minute Smokey Eye,” I was reading Cooking Light and Gourmet, trying to hone other skills. I simply became mesmerized by discovering new ingredients and cuisines that we didn’t have back in Ukraine. Eventually, a friend suggested that I start a blog to have an outlet for my obsession, and now, four years and two domain name changes later, here I am – chez moi.
Cooking is more than a hobby; it’s therapy (trust me, there are few things in life that good boeuf bourguignon or a freshly-baked pound cake can’t fix). And this website is more than a blog; it’s my own little world that only I get to curate and it is very dear to me. Writing it allows me to share stories, and with those stories I hope to start conversations and connect with people all over the world. Even if I never get to be the Leandra Medine of the food blogosphere, at least I’ll have had a really good time.
So welcome to my virtual home. I hope you like it here. Don’t be shy and drop me a line!

Hello Sasha!
I just wanted to let you know that you are beautiful! and i love eating what ever you cook us <3
p.s. you look fantabulous with red lipstick!<3
Hello Sasha. You look very elegant and sophisticated in that picture so I am not surprised to see that you love France so much. I imagine that they welcome you with open arms.
I am English so my days are full of uncultured activities such as eating pork pies and shouting at people.
In your picture I noticed a dark mark on your knee. Is it a shadow? It reminds me of that scene near the start of The Matrix where Neo touches the mirror. The mirror sort of melts and starts creeping all over his arm.
I hope that this isn’t happening to you and I suggest you avoid taking the blue pill. Or was it the red pill? Sorry, I can’t remember which way round it was.
Life, ’tis a strange thing – you see eating pork pies as uncultured, I see it as a damn good way to spend the time. It’s all about perspective.
I appreciate your concern about my knee. I am currently not on any pills and as far as I’m concerned, I’ve never made a mirror melt.
Thanks for stopping by
It’s always fun to see Michael messing around on other blogs… Saying things you could never have thought of yourself.
Guess every genius is slightly not-understandable.
Sasha,
You are such a dear! Once I figure out how to have a blog roll, I’ll be adding you as well (haha… Still new and trying to learn the ropes). Your blog is so refreshing and, of course, mouth watering!
Happy blogging
Lindsey
